Jesus warned His listeners that there is a natural tendency to relax in obedience to God’s commandments. So He told them to remember that whoever breaks one part of the Law, and teaches other people to do the same, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. Due to the fact that Jesus refers to the “kingdom of heaven”, we are to understand – 1.) He is addressing believers, 2.) a person’s position there is determined by faithful and obedience while on earth. The individual who obeys the law of Christ’s kingdom, shall be called great in His kingdom.
