Matthew 7:21-23

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Jesus warned against people who falsely profess to acknowledge Him as Saviour, but have never been converted. Not everyone who calls Jesus “Lord” will enter into His kingdom. Only those who do His will, will enter into His kingdom. The first step of doing the will of God is to take Jesus as Saviour. On judgment day, many unbelievers will stand before Christ and proclaim that they did many great things in His name. Jesus will declare to them that He never knew them or acknowledged them as His own because they never took the first step of obedience – receiving Him as their Saviour.
