I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
Here Jesus repeated His claim to equality with God the Father. The phrase “I came forth from the Father” means He is the eternal Son of the eternal Father, equal with God the Father. He came into the world as One who had lived elsewhere before His coming. At His ascension, He left the world and returned to the Father. This is a brief biographical account of the Lord of glory.
