I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
As High Priest, He prayed for the disciples, but did not pray for the world. This should not be taken to mean that Christ never prayed for the world. On the cross, Jesus had prayed for God the Father to forgive those who were crucifying Him. But here He was praying as the One who represented believers before the throne of God. At the throne, His prayer could only be for His own.
