Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
We confess in baptism that our old man was crucified with Christ. Our old man refers to all that we were as children of Adam. At conversion, we put off the old man and put on the new man. The crucifixion of the old man at Calvary means that the body of sin no longer has dominion over us. This confirms that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
