There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
After examining the “benefits” of sin and the Law, Paul concluded that only being in Christ removed all condemnation. This can be understood two ways: 1) there is no divine condemnation as far as our sin is concerned, because we are “in Christ”. There was condemnation as long as we were “in Adam”, but now we are “in Christ”, and therefore, are free from condemnation as He is. 2) there is no need for any kind of self-condemnation because of having been set free from sin.
