But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore. Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?
Even in exile, some of the people were continuing with their idolatrous practices. In this sense, they were the offspring of their unfaithful parents, the adulterer, and the harlot. Mocking the Lord, they were children of transgression and falsehood. They burned with lust in the worship of trees and they sacrificed their children to Baal or Molech, in the valleys.
