Isaiah 66:24

And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

While there, they walked out to the Valley of Hinnom and saw the corpses of rebels being cremated in the perpetual fire of the city dump.

It is worth noting that Christ quotes, during His earthly ministry, from the last verse in Isaiah as a warning to those who would live in sin and offend Christ’s little ones. Three times in Mark 9, Jesus uses Isaiah’s words: “Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched”.  (v 44, 46, 48) The good news is that a person can escape these eternal fires of hell by putting their faith in the Saviour, the Servant of the Lord, that Isaiah described in so many of his prophecies.
