Proverbs 11:15

He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.


To be surety for a stranger means to guarantee their debt or promissory note. The person who does this will suffer for it, as they may have to pay the debt. The one who despises “suretiship” save themselves a lot of headaches and heartache.
