1 John 2:1
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
The term “little children” refers to all the members of the family of God. John presented God’s perfect standard in the words “that ye sin not”. Because God is perfect, His standard for us is absolute perfection. We are unable to achieve God’s standard, and in His grace, He gave us an Advocate, “Jesus Christ the righteous”, who, when we sin and confess it as such, comes alongside of us and restores the fellowship that was broken due to our violation of God’s standard.
