2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
Paul addresses thanksgiving to God, “the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”. Lord Jesus Christ is the full title of God in the New Testament. He is no longer addressed as the God of Abraham, Isaac, or Jacob. Now, He is the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. This name implies the great truth that the Lord Jesus is both God and Man. Paul described God as the “Father of mercies and the God of all comfort”, as it is from Him where all mercies and comfort flows.
