When we gather in the name of Jesus, He is in the midst of us - Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
This verse must be interpreted in light of its context. It doesn’t refer to the composition of a New Testament church in its simplest form nor to a general prayer meeting, but to a meeting where the church seeks the reconciliation of two Christians, separated by sin. It may legitimately be applied to all meetings of believers where Christ is the center. To meet “in my name” means by His authority, in acknowledgement of what He is, and in obedience to His Word.
