To receive everlasting life, we must believe in Jesus Christ  -  John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This is one of the best known verses in the Bible. It states the gospel clearly and simply, and summarizes why Jesus came into the world.
