We are born of God, if we believe that Jesus is the Christ  -  1 John 5:1

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

John stated that the results of divine birth is love for God, love for fellow believers, and obedience to God’s commandments. He wrote that this divine birth, which has these results, comes from believing Jesus is the Christ and that He came from God.
