If we mortify the deeds of our body, we shall live  -  Romans 8:13

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Paul stated the stark reality of all individuals – if we live after the flesh, we will die both physically and eternally. To live after the flesh is not to be born again. The second part of this verse reveals how to live beyond this physical life – put the deeds of the flesh to death. This can be accomplished through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, which is given to us at the moment of salvation.
